BDEA’s annual REAL summer intensive is a four-day exploration into the theory, pedagogy, systems and structures of student-centered, competency-based teaching and learning. Because students are always at the core of this work, there is an emphasis on creating and maintaining safe, supportive, trauma sensitive environments to enhance whole-student progress and to ensure that student needs remain the focus of all decision-making.

This year, we invite you to work alongside our BDEA educators and students as they revise their curriculum while learning to incorporate PowerSchool Learning, a free educator- and student-friendly digital learning platform. BDEA is using PowerSchool Learning as a tool to support student-centered learning, helping teachers navigate a competency-based classroom by providing a simple way to manage curriculum across the school community.

Custom Programs For Your Team

Residencies provide an opportunity for small teams to receive topic-specific support during the school year, at the BDEA campus. Sessions are designed to fit the needs of school teams who spend two, three, or four days at the school working with the instructional lead, observing classes, meeting staff and students, and working together on specific problems of practice.

Our custom data management system

Measuring student progress is a complicated process, especially for students with challenges that effect their learning. Connects is a database customized using a Salesforce platform, which provides teachers, administrators, students, and parents with instantaneous information on student’s academic performance, progress towards goals, social and emotional risk factors, interventions, and post graduate plans, all in one place. BDEA is offering this unique resource to interested schools in one of two formats: a package that can be managed by individual schools, and a network model that will be supported by BDEA.
